LiUNA Local 183 Hosts Annual Scholarship Trust Fund Ceremony
Labourers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) Local 183 awards 70 scholarships at its 24th annual award ceremony.
TORONTO – Labourers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) Local 183 hosted its 24th Annual Scholarship Ceremony, celebrating the 70 worthy recipients whom it will support throughout their post-secondary endeavours.
Each year, the LiUNA Local 183 Scholarship Trust Fund awards scholarships to the children and grandchildren of Local 183 members and retirees in recognition of the importance of post-secondary education to our community. This year, Local 183 was proud to offer $10,000 scholarships, distributed over the course of the recipients’ studies, to the 70 dedicated scholars from across the GTA.
“For decades, LiUNA members have worked hard to create opportunities for themselves and their families. They, and their families, are leaders in our community,” said Jack Oliveira, Local 183 Business Manager. “It is our honour to support our members and their families in academic journeys and their pursuit of post-secondary education.”
Since 2006, the LiUNA Local 183 Scholarship Trust Fund has awarded over 900 scholarships in excess of $7.5 million dollars to LiUNA Local 183 members and their children and grandchildren.
“We are grateful to our members for their dedication to supporting education in their communities,” added Oliveira. “We wish all of our recipients the greatest of success in their future pursuits.”
